"Every fisherman who fishes for trout with a dry fly has experienced the frustration of trout refusing to take the fly. Sometimes the trout completely ignores the offering; other times it drifts downstream beneath the fly, checking for any signs of fraud; and then there are those times when the trout makes such an indignant show of refusal that the fisherman feels sheepish for having insulted the poor fish!
Fortunately, we remember the takes, and not the refusals-otherwise, most of us might long since have taken up golf."
