"I have profound respect for the Woodland Indian hunter. This Indian man's solitude and ability to survive on his own in a wild environment intrigues me as an artist. The hunter is a son of Mother Nature. Everything he uses, from the birch-bark canoe to his weapons and garment, has been created from natural materials. Long ago, raw copper nuggets were battered into thin pieces of metal to make jewelry like that shown in this hunter's earrings."
