During a visit last summer to a Wyoming ranch, Bonnie observed this magnificent pair of black Labs retrieving and spotting for their owner. "I've seen some of the finest birding dogs in the country," she says, "and these epitomized the best. One partner was always keenly aware what the other was doing, the younger (in the foreground) often taking cues from the older, more experienced birder. Instinctive or learned, their teamwork and synchronicity were spellbinding."
