A cowboy's package of mail may be a little different from yours or mine. Several cowboys have come to town to pick up their hard tack and mail at the post office. On this cold day, these cowboys have arrived to gather their biscuits and mail, which will sustain them during the next round-up.

 

Next time they're back will be in late spring.

 

"Hard Tack & Mail" was previewed at G. Harvey's show at Legacy Gallery in Scottdale, Arizona, in early 2009. It was one of the most popular pieces in the show as it features a Texaco gas pump and the comraderie of the cowboys hanging out in the warmth of the gas station on a cold winter evening.
