Appalachain farmers make sure their barns are full to capacity by the time the first flurries cover the last green grass of the fall season. There will be winter hay for the animals and protection for their equipment that awaits the spring.
Phillip Philbeck has perfectly captured just such a day as an early winter storm extinguishes the last ray of sunshine. He captures the feeling we all remember so well - on a day when the arms of winter wrapped us up for the first time.
